BINTULU: A construction worker died from severe head injuries after his motorcycle went out of control and crashed at Kemena 2 Bridge, Jalan Bintulu-Bakun on Friday (Oct 22).
Prior to the 7.40pm fatal incident, the victim identified as Rendall Given Wan Nanta, 19, was riding alone on his motorcycle from Jalan Bakun to Tubau.
Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said the victim, who was believed to have speeding, lost control of his motorcycle before crashing to the right side of the road.
“The impact caused the victim to be thrown onto the road from his bike. He suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Bintulu Hospital,” he said.
The body was later brought to the hospital for post mortem.
Alexson added that the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
