Biker in coma after collision with car

The seriously injured motorcyclist arrives at the Sarawak General Hospital in an ambulance.

KUCHING: A 34-year-old motorcyclist from Kampung Tabuan is seriously injured after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Jalan Astana at 11.45pm on Wednesday.

The collision happened when the car driver switched lane which caused the motorcyclist at the rear to ram into the car.

The impact of the collision caused the motorcyclist to be flung from his machine and fell on his head. The car driver aged 58, a businessman from Kuantan, Pahang escaped unhurt.

A passer-by called an ambulance which took the injured motorcyclist to Sarawak General Hospital.

At press time, the motorcyclist is still in a coma.

Sarawak Head of Investigation and Enforcement Department, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the case and said the car driver is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Traffic Act. 1987.
