Biker injures leg in freak accident

KUCHING: A motorcyclist seriously injured his right leg in a freak accident yesterday. In the 1.30pm accident, the biker’s leg got stuck in the wheel of his machine at Tabuan Melayu.

Passers-by called the Fire and Rescue Department for help.

The victim was freed and then sent to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, a 60-year-old man from BDC was arrested for possessing an air gun on Monday evening.

  Acting on information received, the man’s shop at Jalan Mendu was searched and police found an air gun kept in the kitchen’s ceiling and also marbles used as gun pellets. All the items were seized. 

Kuching police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani confirmed that the suspect was detained and would be charged under Section 8(A) of the Firearms Act 1960.

According to the police, the suspect has previous conviction for having air guns in his possession.
