BINTULU: Firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department located and rescued two women who had lost their way during a hike on Bukit SJK Chung Hua yesterday (Jan 24).

The swift response highlighted the efficiency of the firefighters in Sarawak.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Bintulu station initiated the rescue operation after receiving a distress call at 5.02 pm.

Upon confirming the women’s location in the forest, the team commenced their operation by employing the ‘follow the stream’ method.

Not long after, at 6.28pm, the team managed to find the 19-year-old hikers – safe and unharmed.

They were then guided out of the forest to the search control post. The rescue operation ended at 7 pm.
