KUCHING: Works are ongoing to maintain and upgrade facilities at the Bintulu Airport, said Federal Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
He said among the scope of work now is to replace the supply and return air ducts at the airport.
“The total cost of maintenance to replace the supply and installation ducting is RM1.5 million. Meanwhile, other maintenance works that have been implemented comprises facilities upgrading costing RM712,318 for the year 2020,” he said.
He said this in a written reply to a question from Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing during the Parliament session yesterday (July 15).
Wee said the first phase of the maintenance work has commenced on February 3, 2020 and was expected to be completed by July 30, 2020.
“The progress however was being interrupted due to the movement control order (MCO). It is also taking more time as the area where the work is ongoing is often active with movements of passengers,” he said.
