BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) is always sensitive and concerned about helping communities in need, particularly the fishermen in the Bintulu area, whose livelihoods depend on their catch from the sea.

The BPHB chief executive officer Ruslan Abdul Ghani, said that in this context, the company, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, is assisting these individuals by purchasing products produced by members of the Bintulu Fishing Association (PNK), such as shrimp chilli sauce, fish chilli sauce, shrimp paste, and pepper powder, to be used as corporate gifts.

He stated that this is the ninth year that the company has supported Bintulu PNK through such an approach.

“I am confident that by purchasing PNK’s products, it will help them achieve their sales targets and promote local products to outsiders such as those in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and internationally,” he said at the Jalinan Kasih Ramadan Bersama PNK Bintulu at the Hotel Promenade here last night (April 14).

As such, he believed that the Jalinan Kasih Ramadan programme with the fishing community would further strengthen the existing relationship between the company and the organisation.

“Hopefully, this good relationship will continue to flourish for the benefit of the entire community in Bintulu,” he added.

During the programme, Ruslan, who represented BPHB, presented cash donations of RM200 each to 50 PNK members from less privileged backgrounds.
