BINTULU: Several roads in Bintulu will experience partial closures from 10pm, Aug 5 until 8am, Aug 6 to accommodate the Bintulu International Marathon.

Bintulu OCPD Supt Batholomew Umpit announced that the affected roads would include Jalan Sebaru, Jalan Bintulu-Tatau, Jalan Tun Hussein Onn, Jalan Kidurong up to Shell Tanjung Kidurong (Daiken Industrial), Jalan Pantai Kidurong, Jalan Tanjung Batu, and Lasar Kenyalang.

The event will attract both local and international runners participating in four categories: 42km, 21km, 10km and 6km.

“During the marathon, certain main roads in the city will be partially closed under police control,” he stated during a press conference yesterday (July 28).

He advised the public to plan their travel accordingly on the specified dates and to adhere to police instructions.

For the 42km category, runners will commence at Lasar Kenyalang, proceeding towards Jalan Kampung Baru, Kemunting traffic lights, Jalan Sebaru traffic lights, Taman Sri Pelabuhan traffic lights, JPJ traffic lights along Jalan Bintulu – Tatau towards Junction 5 traffic lights.

The route will continue to Jalan Tun Hussein Onn, then right at Medan Jaya traffic lights onto Jalan Kidurong, continuing straight to Bintulu Medical Centre traffic lights, and Jalan Tanjung Kidurong.

Upon reaching the Shell Tanjung Kidurong traffic lights, they will turn left into the Daiken industrial area towards Jalan Pesisir Tanjung Batu.

The run will progress to the Taman Tumbina roundabout and along Jalan Tun Razak towards Bintulu Court traffic lights, finally concluding at Lasar Kenyalang.

The 21km route will start from the Lasar Kenyalang traffic lights and proceed through Jalan Kampung Baru, Kemunting, Jalan Sebaru traffic lights, Taman Sri Pelabuhan traffic lights, JPJ traffic lights, Jalan Bintulu – Tatau, Intersection 5 traffic lights, Jalan Tun Hussein Onn, Medan Jaya traffic lights, Kidurong Street, Bintulu Medical Centre traffic lights, Tumbina roundabout, Tun Razak Street, Bintulu Court traffic lights, before returning to Lasar Kenyalang.

The 10km route will begin at Lasar Kenyalang traffic lights, continue through Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Pesisir Tanjung Batu, Taman Matahari, and return to Jalan Pesisir Tanjung Batu, Tumbina roundabout, Jalan Tun Razak, Bintulu Court, and Lasar Kenyalang.

Lastly, for the 6km category, the run will start from Lasar Kenyalang towards Jalan Paragon, Jalan Tun Razak, up to the Shell Tan Guan Mui Tanjung Batu traffic light, crossing the road to Bintulu Court traffic light, and concluding at Lasar Kenyalang.
