BINTULU: A Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) will be set up at Advanced Technology Training Centre (Adtec) Bintulu soon, making it the seventh such facility here.

Currently, there are six in the division – the Bintulu Civic Centre, Muhibbah Stadium, Similajau National Park, Taman Sri Pelabuhan Bintulu, Wasan Inn and Kidurong Inn.

Bintulu Resident Jack Aman Luat said the new PKRC would reduce congestion at Bintulu Hospital and existing PKRCs. There are 726 patients in the existing PKRCs.

“Adtec Bintulu is able to accommodate up to 200 beds and will operate as soon as it is equipped with all the necessities,” he told the press during a visit to the centre on Wednesday (April 14).

Jack, who is also the chairman of Bintulu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), said however, the opening of the PKRC would depend on the Covid-19 situation.

He again reminded the public to comply with standard operating procedure guidelines set by Bintulu DDMC for the safety and welfare of all.
