KUCHING: The Borneo International Water & Wastewater Exhibition & Conference (Biwwec) which was scheduled to be held from Aug 17 to 19 this year at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) has been postponed to next year.

The new date for the event is from Aug 6 to 8, 2021.

Organising chairman cum Malaysian Water Association Sarawak Branch chairman Chang Kuet Shian said the postponement came amid growing concerns from the organising committee on the current Covid-19 situation.

Chang, who is also the State Rural Water Supply Department director, further said the committee is fully committed in helping to contain and stop the potential spread of this virus.

“We will be in close communication with the Sarawak Health Department for latest updates on the Covid-19 situation in order to furnish a safe environment for our participants.

“The Malaysian Water Association Sarawak Branch truly value the support given by all involved parties and we are working hard to further enhance the conference and offer a high quality event experience for all participants,” he said in a statement yesterday.
