KUCHING: A double-storey house was engulfed in a fire at Jalan Pisang Barat, here on Tuesday (Sept 22) evening.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 4.35pm and deployed firefighters from Batu Lintang and Padungan fire and rescue stations to the scene.

Upon arrival, operations commander PBK II Patrick Maong informed that the fire had already destroyed the house.

It was reported that the fire had also spread to the adjacent houses.

Firefighters started their extinguishing operation and made a fire break to prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby houses.

So far, only one adjacent house was 10 percent damaged by the inferno.

No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
