KUCHING: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Sarawak branch will be organising a blood donation campaign in conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebration on Wednesday (Sept 16).

It will be held starting from 9am to 3pm at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Community Hall A.

“Since the commencement of movement control order (MCO) in March this year, MRC has supported hospitals in various districts on the blood replenishment campaigns.

“Over the 3-month period, more than 4,200 pints of blood were collected. This is a great achievement despite the limitation of movement during the MCO,” said the director of MRC Sarawak branch Chai King Sing in a statement issued today.

He also expressed his gratitude to Sarawak General Hospital blood bank and Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad, with the support from Kuching South City Council for helping to organise the event.

“I would like to thank the continuous support from Sarawak General Hospital blood bank and Kuching South City Council. Not forgetting Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad being part of the team this round.” he added.

Chai encouraged all regular as well as new blood donors to come forward in contributing to this campaign.

He reassured the donors that standard operating procedures (SOPs) will strictly be followed such as taking body temperature prior to registering and social distancing will be maintained.
