MUKAH: The Barisan Nasional (BN) government has finally fulfilled the promise made by the former Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, to the local Area Fishermen Association (PNK).

The promise to provide an Ice Flex Machine for Mukah/Oya PKN Mukah was made during the campaign for the Balingian by-election in 2014.

This good news for the association was unveiled to the media in conjunction with the launching of the Ice Mill to be held on 14 March.

Tellian State Assemblyman, Yussibnosh Balo, who won that by-election, is expected to officiate at the event.

It is learnt that the promise was made by Muhyiddin when he officiated at the association 40th Annual General Meeting held at Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) Complex here, on 27 March 2014 during the campaign period.

During the association’s monthly meeting in August last year, it appealed for the promise to be fulfilled by the federal government as the former Deputy Prime Minister was then representing the BN government.

The association considered it as priority because its old machine had broken down long ago and it had relied heavily on private firms to supply ice for the local fishermen and had to bear the high cost.
