KUCHING: The Barisan Nasional (BN) victory in the Rantau by-election shows that the people are fed up with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women Chief Datuk Seri Doris Brodie told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday,  “The PH government is well known for its many U-turns, unfulfilled promises and their blame games, of which people were tired of.

“People are struggling with bread-and-butter issues which are real and must be addressed immediately.

“PH should learn from its past failures in Cameron Highland and Semenyih and make it right at Rantau.”

Doris said people associated Malaysia Baru under PH with egoistic, rhetoric and vindictive style politics.

She pointed out that the BN candidate Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (Tok Mat) had a good track record in Negeri Sembilan where he had served as the Menteri Besar before.

“He is an exemplary people’s leader. The people in Rantau remember him for all his good work.

“The collaboration between Umno, PAS, MIC and MCA also contributed to the bigger vote majority in Rantau,” added Doris.

She warned leaders not to underestimate the people.

“They can judge and make comparisons and their judgement can be ‘fatal’.

“Losing for the third time in a row is a very bad sign for the PH government.”

In the Rantau by-eelction on Saturday, Mohamad won by a majority of 4,510 votes after securing 10,397 votes over his closest rival, PH candidate Dr Streram Sinnasamy who garnered 5,887 votes.
