Body calls on Chinese Consul General

KUCHING: The Kuching China Trades Importers and Exporters Association paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chinese Consul General in Kuching Xing Weiping.

According to the association’s statement, the said visit was made on Tuesday (July 5) and was led by the association chairman Datuk Yii Ming Tang.

“During the visit, we discussed our association’s founding purpose, the current complex domestic and international situation.

“The matter of discussion revolves around a number of factors that are unfavorable to business, such as transportation supply chain, human resources in this post-pandemic period in Sarawak and China, Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), resumption of economic and trade growth after the epidemic as well as other trades related issues including Sarawak students returning to study in China Universities,” it said in its statement yesterday.

At the same time, Xing expressed his pride in the association for continuing its original aims and objectives ever since its establishment more than 40 years ago.

“Not only that, it has made great contributions in promoting friendly economic and bilateral  trade between Sarawak and China as well as actively building bridges of friendship and trust to achieve good relationships between the two countries,” he said.

For the record, the association has always maintained a close working relationship with the Consulate-General.

“For that, we will continue our good cooperation to promote and enhance the economy and trade between Sarawak and China,” it stated.
