Body of drowned man,77, found

The victim's body found by SAR personnel about 100 metres from where he was said to have drowned.

DALAT: The body of a septuagenarian from Kampung Medong Dalat feared drowned at Kampung Medong jetty on Wednesday, was found this morning.

The State Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba’s) operations centre informed that villagers found the body about 100 metres from where he was said to have drowned.

Bomba said the victim’s body was discovered at 11.30am and later handed over to the police for further actions.

Following the finding, the search and rescue (SAR) operation was called off.

Earlier on Wednesday around 9am, the victim, Bri Langer, 77, was initially seen untying the rope of his jetty, but due to the current, the jetty started to drift downstream.

The victim tried to retrieve the jetty by swimming after it, but after failing to retrieve it, the victim tried to swim back to the riverbank, but he failed to do so and sank into the water.
