SIBU: The body of a foreign man who was reported missing and feared drown when taking a bath after a haircut on Friday, was found on the third day of the search and rescue operation. The body of Si Thu Htun, 21, was found yesterday by the SAR team at around 10.15am.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) stated that the man was feared to have drowned after he was swept away by strong currents in the Rajang River. He had leapt into the river to bath with a colleague from a barge in front of the factory at the wharf at Ding Lik Kong Road, Sibu at around 12.40pm on Friday.

Bomba personnel together with the police and Civil Defence Force (APM) were dispatched to the scene for the search and rescue operation, however it was called off by late evening on the first and second day.

The operation resumed on the third day at around 7.49am and by 10.15am, the body was found 7km from the spot where he bathed. The operation ended after the body was recovered.
