MARUDI: The body of a man was found hanging from a rope around the neck on Thursday morning.

According to Marudi acting police chief ASP Jaimi Husin, the body was discovered at 10.30am inside an old factory building.

The building is adjacent to an oil palm plantation.

“A team of police was immediately rushed to the scene after being alerted of the discovery,” he said when contacted yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as a 49-year-old Bugis man (Indonesian).

ASP Jaimi added the body was discovered by the deceased’s nephew.

“Prior to the discovery, the nephew was looking for firewood nearby the old factory building, when he spotted ‘something’ hanging inside the building,” he said.

His curiosity prompted him to check inside the building.

“He was shocked to see it was his uncle’s body,” said Jaimi.

According to preliminary investigations, the deceased went to stay with his nephew on June 14, looking for work.
