Bomba divers finally recovered the victim's body from the river.

KUCHING: A man who fell into the Sarawak River was found by the Bomba diver unit after several hours of search.

The State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre (Bomba) said the victim, Iswandi Zaini, 48, was found at 4.38pm today.

“The search and recovery operation commenced at the incident location and a water surface searching was conducted using a boat in a radius of 50 metres from where the victim fell.

The body is being prepared to be handed over to the police.

“The diver unit were also deployed to assist with the search. They started their first dive within a 20-metre radius from the jetty at 3.55pm,” it said.

During the second dive into the river, the body was found within a radius of 15 metres from the Pengkalan jetty platform.

“The victim’s body was brought up to the jetty and then handed over to the police for further action. The operation ended at 4.47pm,” it added.

Earlier, the operation centre received an emergency call at 1.29pm yesterday about a man who was seen falling into the Sarawak River.

Firemen from Pandungan Bomba station were deployed to the scene to conduct search operations and gather information from witnesses.
