KUCHING: The body of a 41-year-old Jamlee Masli, who was reported missing on Saturday near Pulau Lakei here, was found yesterday.

According to a report from the State Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), the body was discovered by a local fisherman at 8.05am, approximately one nautical mile northwest of the island.

The remains were brought to Kampung Bako jetty at 9.30am to be verified by family members before being taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) morgue by the police.

On Saturday at 9.30am, three fishermen were caught in a storm at sea and the boat they were in sank.

Jamlee was said to have used a 20-litre petrol container to stay afloat while the other two clung to a life jacket.

The survivors, Masli Rafaee, 64 and Mohamad Masli, 32, were taken to the maritime complex at Muara Tebas after they were found by local fishermen around 5pm. A team of firemen of Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Station and police officers were involved in the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
