BELAWAI: A man who was reported missing while looking for mollusks, locally known as lokan, yesterday afternoon was found with his lifeless body hanging on a tree at about 3pm.
He was earlier reported missing in Kampung Lot Belawai at around 12.30pm.
A search and rescue (SAR) team, comprising six firefighters from the Tanjung Manis fire station, three Belawai policemen, five medical assistants and 30 village folk immediately combed the area in search of him.
The search ended when the SAR team stumbled upon his lifeless body hanging from a tree about two and a half hours later.
Firefighters later took the remains of the victim down from the tree and surrendered it to the police for further action.
The victim was certified dead by the medical personnel from the Belawai Clinic.
