DARO: The body of a 15-year-old boy, who drowned while taking a bath in Daro river, was found about five metres from where he was last seen on Monday (Jan 4).
The boy, identified as Haziefheild Hardie Abdullah, was said to be bathing with his 10-year-old brother and a friend in the river near Kampung Panchor.
As they were bathing, the victim suddenly submerged into the river and was believed to have drowned. The victim’s mother also informed that her son suffered from asthma.
Firemen from Daro fire station were despatched to the scene after being alerted on the incident around 12.40pm.
The team carried out a search operations with villagers via a traditional technique of using barbed rattan to locate the victim in the river.
At about 4.20pm, the team found the victim and handed the body over to the police for further action.
Earlier on when the search operations started, a fireman was stung by bees and was rushed to the hospital.
