Body of senior citizen feared drown found

JULAU: The body of a senior citizen, who was reported to have fallen into Sungai Mujok, Julau, was found today (June 30).

The victim, identified as Nyawai Guntor, 75, was found by members of the public at Nanga Serau, Ulu Mujok about 15 minutes away via boat ride from his last known location.

“The victim’s body was taken to the Entabai-Julau Jetty at about,” the State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said today (June 30).

The victim was reported to have fallen into the river while boarding a boat at Rumah Gerasi, Nanga Mujok on Sunday (June 27) around 4.30pm.

He was later swept away by strong water currents.

Bintangor firemen as well as police officers were deployed to the scene by boats to look for the victim.
