SIBU: The body of a senior citizen, reported missing in Sungai Katibas last Saturday, was found floating in Kampung Rassau, Sungai Igan on Thursday.
Song police chief, DSP Rowney Michael confirmed the information when contacted.
He said the body of the victim — identified as Tuno Kudi, 59 — was found with his right palm missing.
“The public found his body floating in Sungai Igan, about 300 metres downstream of SMK Batang Igan around 12.39pm.
“Sibu IPD Control Centre was informed about the floating body.
“After arriving at the location at 3.50pm, police found a wallet containing the victim’s identity card. His body was clad in green trousers and a blue T-shirt.
“The victim also had a watch on his left wrist but his right palm was missing,” Rowney explained.
A team of police officers from the Sungai Merah police station used a boat to recover the body.
The victim’s body was sent to the morgue at Sibu Hospital further action. With the discovery of the body, the third day of a search and rescue (SAR) operation ended.
Tuno came from Rumah Baro, Sungai Musah in Katibas, Song.
