KUCHING: A new water booster pump station is expected to put an end to water disruptions in the Samarahan, Simunjan, Sebangan and Sebuyau areas.

Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the newly built facility near the Batang Samarahan bridge will supply water to these areas.

The Booster Pump Station which started operating in March this year following its completion at a cost of RM23.2 million will benefit 85,000 residents in Asajaya, Sadong Jaya, Sebangan, Sebuyau and Simunjan.

“The water booster pump station is built to carry water supply to distant areas.

“This is part of a project to water stressed areas to help with the water pressure in those areas,” he said after officiating the Booster Pump Station on Monday (Nov 14).

He later said the project is a component of the Water Grid System to supply water across Sarawak.

“The Water Grid System Sarawak is important as it will ease water supply in areas in Samarahan, Kuching, Serian, to Sarikei, Sibu and move up north to Bintulu, Lawas, Miri.
