KUCHING: Water woes in Meradong is being addressed with the usage of several water booster pump stations and high-level water tanks, said its assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing.

He said the setting up of both facilities will greatly benefit the constituents as they are often face water supply disruptions.

Ding said the Nam Kiew water booster pump station and high-level water tank have been completed while the KJD Bintangor water booster pump station is still under construction which is expected to be completed this September.

“Right now we are still waiting for the laying of pipes from the junction to the two booster pumps, so that the two high-level tanks can have water supply.

“I hope with the pipes being laid and tanks receiving water supply, the problem of low water pressure in the Meradong district can be resolved,” he said when met after visiting both locations of the project on Friday.

Ding also visited the Bintangor Community Hall vaccination centre (PPV) to monitor the vaccine rollout programme.

He said the progress of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NCIP) at the PPV was implemented smoothly and about 600 received their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine jab that day.

The Meradong assemblyman also called on the residents who might have been left out or have not registered for the Covid-19 vaccines to register themselves with community leaders in their respective areas.

He hoped that every section of the community in Meradong district would receive the vaccine injection as soon as possible as it would reduce the risk of being infected with Covid-19.
