SIA SITOK SARAWAK CAMPAIGN

KUCHING:The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) yesterday announced the domestic tourism campaign ‘Sia Sitok Sarawak’ (or Ke Sana Ke Sini Sarawak) to enhance tourism efforts and activities.

This campaign provides an opportunity for Sarawakians and residents in Sarawak who have a valid work permit to experience and enjoy the beauty of Bumi Kenyalang with discounts of up to 50 percent.

The Sia Sitok Sarawak campaign offers over 30 attractions and exciting activities in Kuching, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Mulu, encompassing day trips and overnight visits as well as tourism packages with accommodation and food.

It is great for single travellers, couples, families with children, weekend getaways, golfing, diving, or simply to enjoy nature — there is definitely something to suit everyone’s needs.

The packages and activities offered include the Sarawak Sunset River Cruise, Irrawady Dolphin River Cruise at Santubong, bird watching at Kubah National Park, diving visits at Pulau Satang, Evening Kuching Wetland Tour, Bako National Park, visits to Tanjung Datu National Park, Miri golfing at Eastwood Golf Club, visits to Rajang River and longhouse, visits to villages in Bintangor and Sarikei, exploring Mukah — Melanau residence (three days/two nights), Silabur caving and hiking, and more.

STB chief executive officer Sharzede Datuk Salleh Askor said, “Sia Sitok Sarawak gives the people of Sarawak the opportunity to enjoy and visit places that they have never visited before, and become ambassadors for Sarawak tourism in the future.”

She added that this campaign is also part of the initiative and stimulus for the local tourism industry to help restore the tourism ecosystem affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In making this campaign a success, we are always concerned about the Covid-19 situation. Therefore, the focus will be on destinations in green zones, while also ensuring that tourism operators and industry players comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government,” she said.

The campaign is open for bookings from now until Oct 15 this year, in collaboration with the Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF). STF has provided a reservation platform and payment gateway for the campaign.

This campaign will give priority to frontline workers, including hospital staff, foreign doctors and nurses, the Royal Malaysian Police, People’s Volunteer Corps, army, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Sarawak Disaster Management Committee staff and others involved in Covid-19 efforts in appreciation of their dedication.
