Borneo Fittest competition draws participants from all over Malaysia

KUCHING: The Borneo Fittest 2021 — the first functional fitness competition that was held on Jan 8 — has been deemed a success.

The event was officially launched by Assistant Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister II Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

Kuching Fitness Association’s Gordon Chung, also the event organiser, was delighted with the turnout, which included participants from all over Malaysia.

“We had participants who came from Sabah, Penang, Selangor and even from outside Kuching, mainly from Bintulu and Miri.

“We are very thankful for the support from the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.

“We hope to see the Borneo Fittest grow to be one of the biggest events in the region and to have it held all over Sarawak.”

There were six categories – Women’s Scale, Men’s Scale, Women’s Open, Men’s Open, Women’s Team and Men’s Team.

120 participants competed for cash prizes amounting to RM5,000.

The top three in the Women’s Scale were Yee Lin Seah (first), followed by Hanum Jumastapha and Samantha Mah.

In the Men’s Scale, first place went to Nathan Ong, followed by Rayner Chee and Heng Feng Siau.

Shamala Jeanne Chandran finished first in the Women’s Open followed by Intan Kahar and Mina Chong.

In the Men’s Open, first place went to Thomas George followed by Zhang Yu Seah and Victor Lo.

In the Women’s Team, Mighty SHAP were first while Dogo KK were second and Hakuna Masquata, third.

The Men’s Team was won by SHAP while The Minions and Akinabalu were second and third respectively.
