KUCHING: Sarawak Boxing Association (SABA) President Datuk Rahman Lariwoo has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC).

His three-year tenure will run from August 1 this year to July 31, 2025.

Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah is also one of the 15 board members.

Rahman expressed his appreciation to Abdul Karim and SSC for trusting him to become one of the SSC Board of Directors.

“I will use the confidence bestowed upon me to contribute to the growth of sports in the state so that we can reclaim our former status as a sporting power,” he said in a statement recently.

Other members of the SSC Board of Directors include Deputy Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki as well as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Nancy Jolhi.

Apart from that, State Finance Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, Public Works Department Director Richard Tajan, Sarawak Youth and Sports Department Director Lamat Nyalau and the State Education Department Director Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad are also in the list.

Also appointed as members of the SSC Board of Directors are Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Kota Samarahan Branch Rector Professor Datuk Dr Jamil Hamali, Tenpin Amateur Bowling Sarawak (ABAS) President Sunny Sii Poh Heng, President of Sarawak Disabled Sports and Recreation Association (PESRON) Matthew Chin Hiong Choi, President of Sarawak Rugby Union Richard Song, President of Sarawak State Shooting Association Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai and President of Sarawak State Electronic Sports Association Afiq Fadhli Narawi.
