MIRI: A 16-year-old boy from Kampung Pasir Lutong is in police custody after he ran amok and threatened to harm his father on Tuesday evening.
The teen went berserk around 6.30pm after his father refused to give him RM400.
Miri deputy police chief, Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol, said the boy was detained around 8.05pm on Tuesday after his father lodged a police report.
Acting on the report, a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department rushed to the scene.
It was believed that the suspect grabbed a 48-cm long machete and threatened his father with it.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for Criminal Intimidation.
