BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) recently donated three units of laptops to the Bintulu District Office.

The donation is part of BPHB’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

The computers will be used by frontliners for the vaccination registration process at the vaccination centre in Bintulu Division.

BPHB acting general manager (Group Information Technology) Ramzi Shafiee handed over the laptops to Bintulu District Office liaison officer Norinawati Ibrahim at a simple ceremony.

The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) for Bintulu District will be continued until phase three starting this month, of which vaccines will be administered to individuals aged 18 and above.

BPHB hoped the donated laptops could come in handy for the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), especially during this time where the pandemic is getting worse in the country.

The company previously also provided support and assistance to health centres throughout Sarawak.

BPHB past contributions included donations of medical equipment to Bintulu Hospital, personal protection equipment (PPE) to NKF-Kidney Association of Sarawak’s dialysis centre, and basic necessities to the Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).

Apart from that, the company had also donated 2,000 of full PPE to four major hospitals in the state namely, Bintulu, Kuching, Miri and Sibu Hospitals.

Meanwhile, BPHB group chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah said the company’s continued commitment and concern to address the Covid-19 crisis is one of the company’s CSR strategic objectives to protect the safety and health of the company’s staff, customers, port users and the local community.

“BPHB is also allowing use of our Dewan Serbaguna as a quarantine centre, supplying equipment to hospitals, undertaking direct assistance to the needy in the community, and working closely with DDMC on the SOPs that affect port operations,” he said.
