Brawling teens slapped with RM1,500 compound

MIRI: Five teenagers are among seven individuals slapped with compounds totalling RM10,500 after they were involved in a fight last Friday (June 4).

The brawl which happened around 5.50 pm behind a shop in Tudan, is believed to have started over a dispute involving a kite.

The brawl was captured by members of the public and it went viral on social media.   

Following the viral video, a CID team detained seven individuals to facilitate investigations on the incident.

The suspects aged between 16 and 23, were also issued a RM1,500 compound each for violating the movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol who confirmed the arrests said the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
