SRI AMAN: Forty members of Agal House Women Bureau, Panggil Sri Aman recently took part in a bread making course organised by Gerempung Indu Dayak Sri Aman (Gidsa).
Gidsa advisor Norina Umoi Utot said the day-long course provided exposure and training to entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs who were keen to venture into this field.
“Many of the participants wanted to make bread for sale to increase their income while the others wanted to take up bread making as their hobby,” she added.
Norina said the response to the bread making class was very encouraging from housewives, Gidsa women and potential entrepreneurs in the area.
She hoped there would be more participants if similar courses were organised in other areas of the region in future.
Besides making chicken floss buns and sausage buns, the participants also learned to make donuts and bread.
Norina explained that Gidsa was set up recently to develop women in Sri Aman so that they would be involved in the country’s economic development.
She also urged women in Sri Aman to join the association.
“Gidsa is a platform for us to learn to mingle, manage and become leaders at various levels.
“There are many economic programmes that can be organised and learned together in such associations.
“Let us use this opportunity to develop ourselves further and contribute to the development of the community.
“We do not limit the membership to Iban women. Even women from other races can join us,” said Norina.
Present during the bread making course were the chairman of Gidsa Bonie Langkop and Gidsa secretary Yen Jebeni.
