SIBU: A bridge across Sungai Assan Tengah costing RM150,000 has been completed.
The project, located at RH Damin Assan Tengah near here, was under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), which started construction middle of December last year.
Dudong assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King officiated at the opening ceremony on Sunday.
Upon request, Tiong said he would seek funds from the chief minister to upgrade the road leading to the longhouse from the bridge.
A sum of RM100,000 would be needed, he said, for the road upgrading and a link road from the longhouse to a nearby longhouse, Rumah Mai about 250m away.
Meanwhile, an electricity supply project which cost RM1.8 million is in progress in the Assan Tengah area where two other longhouses namely Rumah Anthony and Rumah Sain are located.
The project is expected to be completed before next Gawai and would benefit 1,000 residents from the four longhouses.
