KUCHING: A sidewalk at Jambatan Batang Mukah (Yellow Bridge) was badly damaged after it was reportedly hit by a barge on May 29.
But the bridge is still deemed safe to use because there are no signs of structural damage.
The Public Works Department (PWD) here has asked the concessionaire to remove all debris as well as a hanging handrail, from the walkway of the bridge as a temporary solution.
It will enlist the help of the concessionaire to conduct more inspections and checks on the bridge structure and suggest repair work to the damaged sidewalk.
