LUNDU: The construction of Selampit Bridge will enhance road connectivity from Pontianak to Kuching, said Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang.

“That route will take about six hours and it is the shortest compared to the other routes available. We want the development to be fast,” he said during a working visit by the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure Development), Aidel Lariwoo to Opar.

“I hope Public Works Department (JKR) will really work it out very fast and help us to speed up the construction.”

Aidel said that the project was expected to be completed within 24 months.

The RM100 million project is divided into two parts, namely, the RM27.94 million Selampit Bridge with its access road stretching as far as 2.8 km and the development of the 12 km Jalan Kampung Kendaie that costs RM72 million.

Present during the working visit was deputy director, Rural Development Branch of JKR, Sarawak. Noor Ismail Razali.
