PADAWAN: A bridge will be built to connect Kampung Abang to Sekolah Kebangsaan Pangkalan Ampat here to ease the burden of teachers, school staff and students.

Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said a road project will also be constructed under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) in the area to connect the main road to the school.

“This project also includes upgrading the existing suspension bridge with a Bailey bridge (steel bridge). The projects will cost more than RM280,000,” he said.

He said this to reporters after officiating at the earth breaking ceremony for an agricultural road project from Kampung Abang to Kampung Biya Jaber at SK Pangkalan Ampat today.

Dr Jerip said the works would be implemented by the state Public Works Department (JKR).

The Mambong assemblyman said with the completion of the road and bridge, teachers and pupils at SK Pangkalan Ampat will not have to walk long distances to the school.

“The construction of the road and bridge will also make it easier for the villagers to go to the city to trade their agricultural products,” he said.
