KUCHING: The Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government will work together with the Sabah government to deliver what is expected of them without compromise.

This is doable under the sure and steady premiership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin or famously known as ‘Abah’, said Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ali Biju.

He said PN’s win in Sabah clearly indicates that the majority of Sabahans approve of Muhyiddin’s leadership.

“There is no denying that the overwhelming popularity of the prime minister, especially in the rural constituencies where the prevalence of billboards prominently featuring ‘Abah’ were very well received, triumphed over recent cheap publicity stunts by irrelevant characters desperate for attention,” he said.

He further stated that when the state government is in tandem with the federal government, everyone benefits and Sabahans reinforced this political reality at the polls.

“The corridor between Putrajaya and Kota Kinabalu is now open and Sabahans can expect an uninterrupted and smooth flow of coordinated developmental initiatives,” he said in a statement on Sunday. (Sept 27).

Ali further said that as a fellow East Malaysian and indigenous native of Borneo, he can relate to the sentiments of the rural folk in Sabah whose priorities are very similar, if not identical, to those in Sarawak.

“Everywhere I went in the rural state seats of Karanaan, Kundasang and Paginatan, all within the parliamentary seat of Ranau, I heard the same refrain from the very welcoming and friendly rural voters; ‘Please bring us real development and economic opportunities, YB.’

“It is obvious that basic infrastructure issues are still the mainstay of tangible and real current concerns on the ground in the interiors of Sabah. The outstanding sore point of illegal immigrants was also evidently simmering and a strong undercurrent,” he added.

Thus, Ali called upon East Malaysian indigenous members of the administration at the federal level, to take on the added responsibility of becoming the bridge to the local folk who have placed their deepest hope and trust in PN for a brighter future.
