KUCHING: Students who obtained very good results in the 2016 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) will receive cash awards from STA Mutual Sdn Bhd (STAM), a subsidiary company of Sarawak Timber Association (STA).
With the release of SPM and STPM results, STAM is calling for outstanding STPM and SPM students to apply for the awards.
Applicants must be Sarawakian or of Sarawakian parentage, having obtained either a minimum of 8As for SPM or 2 As for STPM, and sat for SPM and STPM examinations in 2016 in schools located in Sarawak. Students who meet the above requirements are encouraged to apply.
Students must send their applications with certified original copies of certificate or result transcripts supported by all the required documents to STA Mutual Sdn Bhd, 11 Floor, Wisma STA, 26, Jalan Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim, 93450 Kuching, Sarawak on or before 17 April 2017.
Application forms are available at STA official website www.sta.org.my. Only completed application forms will be considered. Decision by the STA cash awards selection panel is final.
Should the number of applications received before the closing date exceeds the number of cash awards allocated, applications will be selected based on results and time the applications are received.
Names of successful applicants will be published in the STA’s website www.sta.org.my, three months after closing date.
Successful applicants will receive cash awards either in the sum of RM550.00 for SPM or RM650.00 for STPM.
The project was started in year 2016, as part of STA’s corporate social responsibility efforts in recognising and encouraging students who excel.
Last year, STAM awarded cash awards to 449 students in SPM category and 168 students in STPM category.
