LABUAN: The Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) in collaboration with Junior Chamber International Labuan (JCI Labuan) has kicked started a two-day Bring Your Own Bag (Say No To Plastic Bag) campaign in the duty-free-island here beginning May 25.

This campaign was also part of JCI Labuan’s flagship project of “We Care We Act” aimed raising awareness towards turning Labuan into a more sustainable and responsible to the environment.

It focuses on educating the market goers and shoppers on the danger of extensive use of plastics to the environment, and on increasing the ecological consciousness amongst the local community to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle.

Volunteers from Labuan FSA and JCI Labuan had gone all out in the two-day drive, distributing reusable shopping bags at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) Labuan, Bataras Hypermarket and Pasar Tani.

During the campaign, there had been information sharing by the volunteers and infographics display, to inspire and convince the community to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic bags,” Labuan FSA said in a statement today.
