KUCHING: Kota Padawan Hash House Harriers & Harriettes began their Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration last weekend by collaborating with Hope Place to visit unprivileged Chinese families in Kuching.

The Kota Padawan Hash House was able to raise funds for the programme from last year’s 888 Run Kampung Babok on Dec 8.

Chin Kui Nam, leader of the group and six other hash runners — together with Hope Place — visited four needy families and gave special CNY contributions.

Each family received new clothes, a whole roast duck, decorations and ang pow. The children of these families were overjoyed as they were each given a McDonald’s Happy Meal as well.

Overall, the contributions for each family were worth more than RM500.

Kota Padawan Hash House usually organises outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain climbing on Sundays at 4.15pm. More information can be obtained through their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/kph.kuching/.

Hope Place can be reached at 082-505987. Opening hours are from 8.30am to 5.30pm from Mondays till Fridays, and 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays. All donations are welcome and receipts will be given upon request.
