SIBU: “Melanau, Chinese, Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu can sit together in a ceremony like this. You drink, I do not drink, no problem.

“The most important thing is we can understand each other, the promise is we can be united and work together, Sarawak is ours. This is my hope for all those present tonight.”

The quotes underscore the all-important need for brotherhood as Sarawak continues its march towards greater progress.

And the assertion came from Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Dr Annuar Rapaee  during the Ngiling Bidai Gawai Dayak 2022 celebration on Saturday night.

He called on everyone in Sarawak regardless of race to work together for continued development.

At the function, Dr Annuar also took the opportunity to show his full support to two candidates contesting for Supreme Council seats at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) triennial general meeting (TGM) from June 17 to 19.

He urged all the delegates from 18 PBB branches who were present to vote for Daro Assemblyman Safiee Ahmad and Syed Hamzah Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce.

“Tonight there are two candidates present, the first is Number 13, Safiee Ahmad and the second is candidate Number 5, Syed Hamzah.

“I ask all Pesaka members from the 18 branches present tonight to give their support to the two candidates to represent us in this central zone,” he said.

Also present were Katibas Assemblyman Lidam Assan, Bukit Goram Assemblyman Jefferson Jamit, Organising Chairman, Joshua Ting Fu Ying and others.
