KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has appointed Jay Khairil Jeremy as its new chief executive effective today, replacing Datuk Yunos Abd Ghani who retired on Nov 30 last year.

“The board of directors is confident that he can lead BSN to its next phase of growth,” chairman Rossana Annizah Rashidi said in a statement today.

Jay has more than 20 years of banking experience, with his last role being group chief internal auditor of the Alliance Bank Financial Group.

Prior to joining Alliance, he had been chief financial officer at BSN where he helped the bank achieve strong financial performance through prudent management of assets and liabilities, cost optimisation measures and relevant process improvements.

BSN currently has more than 7,400 employees, supported by 390 branches, 38 micro centres, 675 automated teller machines, 317 cash deposit machines and 3,428 registered bank agents across the country.

It has over nine million customers across Malaysia with retail deposits amounting to RM17.81 billion as of December 2020. – Bernama
