KUCHING: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Legal, MA63, State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali has hailed the recently announced budget allocation as a positive development that could boost infrastructure development in Sarawak.

According to her, the allocation could have a significant impact on the state’s economy and its overall development, indicating that the move could be a crucial step towards Sarawak’s transformation.

She added that the amount of allocation given this year has shown a significant increase compared to the previous year, which could pave the way for accelerated development in the state.

“Personally, I feel that this is a very welcome and good improvement. We are grateful that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given a large allocation to Sarawak, particularly in infrastructure development.

“This certainly involves important matters, especially in the process of building roads, electricity supply, and water supply, as we need more funds for development, especially in rural areas,” she stated.

She said this after officiating at the Tatai Kumang Eco Park opening ceremony in Petra Jaya here yesterday (Feb 25).

Overall, she said the budget given to Sarawak is good and in line with the direction and concept of Malaysia Madani introduced by the prime minister.

The presentation of the national budget on Friday (Feb 24) saw Sarawak receiving a development allocation of RM5.6 billion, an increase of RM200 million compared to the RM5.4 billion announced last October.
