KUCHING: Private housing developers are encouraged to collaborate with the state government in efforts to prepare more affordable housing under the SPEKTRA Lite, SPEKTRA Medium and SPEKTRA Plus categories.

Political secretary to Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Tan Kai said that the residence under the SPEKTRA Lite category is among the cheapest, selling between RM100,000 to RM120,000.

“The land area is 700 square feet, and the prerequisite must be that the household income is not more than RM4,000.

“Second category will be SPEKTRA Medium and the price ranges from RM135,000 to RM168,000 for a land area of 755 square feet, and the requirement is the household income is not more than RM5,000,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after the opening ceremony of Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHEDA) Kuching branch’s Home and Property Roadshow 2022 at Aeon Mall here today (Dec 2).

For SPEKTRA Plus, he added the price range is from RM150,000 to RM198,000 with 833 square feet and the household income must be not more than RM6,000.

“Therefore, I would like to invite the private housing developers to collaborate with the state to build more affordable houses for Sarawakians,” he said.

In the meantime, he also encourageed first time home buyers to check out the relevant information and location at Housing Development Corporation (HDC) before they decided to buy their first home.
