KUCHING: Two housing developers had to fork out a total of RM49,735.18 in compensation for late handover of properties.

The three-member Sarawak Housing Purchaser’s Claims Tribunal led by its president Trabawan Mandi arrived at the decision against Jung Kuo Sdn Bhd and Multi Heng Development Sdn Bhd after a hearing at the Kuching Court yesterday (June 15).

The other members of the panel were Alhadi Ibrahim and Simon Woon Ta Meng.

“Jung Kuo Sdn Bhd was instructed to pay RM25,835.06 and Multi Heng Development Sdn Bhd RM23,900.12,” Trabawan told a press conference later.

The first and second hearings were against Jung Kuo for the late handover of properties to the purchasers as well as for defects on the properties at Taman Sentoria Phase 3.

For the third and fourth hearings against Multi Heng Development, the tribunal ordered it to compensate the purchasers for the late handover of properties at Taman Sri Kenyalang.

Trabawan said the developers were ordered to compensate the claimants within 45 days from the date of the hearing, failing which they would be prosecuted in a civil court.
