SIBU: Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek has stressed the importance of a well-planned masterplan for the growth and redevelopment of his constituency.
The redevelopment of Bukit Assek is in its various stages of implementation.
“We are glad that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is committed to Bukit Assek’s redevelopment plan whereby the Sarawak government has allocated RM1 billion to be disbursed in stages under the masterplan.
“The people in Sibu are curious and interested in the redevelopment plan, and they are regularly seeking feedback on the masterplan.
“It is very important for us to also have an overall appropriate masterplan for Bukit Assek. I will also suggest that an exhibition on the masterplan and redevelopment plan be held here so that the every people in Sibu can be involved in and understand the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s development plans,” he said when addressing the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bukit Assek Mid-Autumn Festival here, on Tuesday (Sept 6).
More than 1,000 people took part in the event.
Chieng also took the opportunity to highlight his achievements in the constituency.
“We are not only celebrating the Mooncake Festival together but I am also taking this chance to report to all Bukit Assek voters what I have done in this few months, especially after being elected as your assemblyman,” he said.
He assured them that he would update them on the progress of mega projects from time to time under the Bukit Assek Rural Transformation Projects programme.
Among those present at the event were SUPP Bukit Assek branch chairman Datuk Chieng Boung Toon and Dudong branch chairman Wong Ching Yong.
