Bumi Kenyalang Carnival involves state’s 33 SMEs

Naroden hits the gong to mark the official launch of the Bumi Kenyalang Carnival 2022.

KUCHING: The Bumi Kenyalang Carnival 2022 features many Sarawak-owned products to be marketed in the Peninsular.

According to a press statement, the carnival which was held from Aug 25 to Aug 31, was a programme organised in conjunction with the Kempen Beli Barangan Malaysia (KBBM) or Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign.

“This programme involves 33 small and medium entrepreneurs from Sarawak.

“They market food and drink-based products such as gula apong ice cream, mee kolok, Sarawak laksa, Sarawak black pepper and also handicrafts and textiles products such as woven mats, beaded items and jewelry,” it said.

It stated that the programme was an initiative by AEON Co. (M) Bhd. in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) together with Sarawak Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) and the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC).

It was officiated at by MINTRED advisor Datuk Mohamad Naroden Majais along with MINTRED acting permanent secretary Dzulkornain Masron at AEON Mall, Shah Alam, Selangor today.

“The organisation of this carnival coincides with the government’s efforts to restore the nation’s economy through the recovery of the economic sector, especially the retail sub-sector which is affected by the pandemic,” it explained.

Aside from the products sold, the carnival also has a variety of interesting activities including buskers’ performances, fashion shows, quizzes, colouring competitions and singing competitions in conjunction with this year’s National Day celebrations.

“For that, we hope that more residents and entrepreneurs around Selangor and the Klang Valley come to the carnival and enliven up the atmosphere and get the goods and services provided,” it said.
