BAU: The Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) has allocated RM3.2 million to upgrade the facilities at Bung Jagoi here for convenience and comfort of visitors.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said upgrading of access routes to the mountain and connection of 24-hour electricity supply are among the priorities.

He also said existing facilities on the mountain such as toilets, water supply, halls, and resting huts would also be continuously upgraded for visitors.

“Since I was elected as a representative, I have been committed to preserving Bung Jagoi because it is an original Bidayuh village in the mountains. It has also been recognised as a Geo Delta Park.

“We want to make Bung Jagoi one of the tourist attractions under GKCDA thus we want to improve the facilities here. The upgrading works on these facilities will be implemented continuously with the budget that we have,” he said when met by reporters after officiating at the Bung Jagoi Day celebration yesterday.

Henry, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Maritime), said these upgrades would facilitate visitors when they come to spend a day in nature at Bung Jagoi with their loved ones.

He said establishing 24-hour electricity supply there would allow visitors to have a more comfortable stay when they decide to spend a night at a homestay in the mountain.

“During the previous Jagoi Heritage Trial Run, the homestays in this area were fully booked because participants wanted to have a comprehensive experience. We would love to see more of such events being held here, but it is up to the organisers to decide.

“Our local community here welcomes such events being organised as it is a good way to promote and generate awareness about Bung Jagoi Heritage Centre,” he said.
