KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court has sentenced an unemployed man to a fine of RM1,000 in default to imprisonment for two weeks for trespassing a house and stealing SGD50 (RM162.41) cash belonging to a 23-year-old man.

The accused Alexander Maxwell Buma Amoi, 22, from Kampung Kudei pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 448 of the Penal Code which was read by an interpreter before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali, today.

According to the charges, he broke into the 23-year-old victim’s home in Jalan Star Garden at about 2.30am on October 29.

According to the facts of the case, during the incident, the victim who came out of the toilet ran into an unknown man who entered his house carrying a knife.

The victim then screamed and the accused went out and ran away using the upstairs door of the house.

In addition, there was no evidence of a break-in at the victim’s house because the windows on the top floor of his house were not locked.
