Burung Garuda crowned King of Krian River

SARATOK: Burung Garuda was crowned King of Krian River 2022 at the Saratok Regatta which ended on Sunday.

Mawar Poi’s men almost seemed unchallenged as they powered their way through in the Sakai 30 event, leaving the other teams in their wake.

The effort saw them clinching the top prize of RM15,000 and with it taking the crown from GP BinLaden who were crowned king of the Kalaka Regata River in 2019.

Earlier, Burung Garuda also won the Sakai 25 final cycling event.

The prizes were presented by Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Datuk Ali Biju.

The runner-up in the Sakai 30 event was PBB Sarawak Series 1 who received a cash prize of RM5,000.

Third placing went to Yayasan Sarawak PDB ft CPR 4 who won RM3,000.

In the Sakai 25 event, the runner-up spot went to Nasir Manap’s Jaminas Jaya and third place went to Yayasan Sarawak PDB ft CPR 3.

In the Sakai 20 event Ibrahim Poli’s Sinaran Ratu Tasnim emerged champion.

Mahkota Dewa Gedong and Cahaya Helang Tasik 6 finished second and third respectively.

The Sakai 15 and 10 events were meanwhile monopolised by Dewa Gedong Crown.

Cahaya Helang Tasik 5 and Sinaran Ratu Siska took second and third place respectively in the Sakai 15 cycling event.

And the runner-up spot in Sakai 10 went to Yayasan Sarawak PDB ft CPR 1, with Raja Burong in third place.

Also taking place on Friday was the sprint event, which saw Jaminas Jaya emerge the champion in the Sakai 30.

The runner-up pot went to Sinaran Ratu Siska and Yayasan Sarawak Bujang Sebuyau finished third.

In the Sakai 25 sprint event, Sri Berjaya won, while Jaminas Jaya was runner-up and Burung Garuda finished third.

Sinaran Ratu Tasnim also won the Sakai 20 sprint event, followed by Cahaya Helang Tasik 3 and Jaminas Jaya.

The champion in the Sakai 15 sprint event was Melba Pirates. Burung Garuda and Mahkota Dewa Gedong finished second and third place respectively.

Jaminas Jaya also won the Sakai 10 sprint event, followed by Yayasan Sarawak PDB and Sri Berjaya.

A total of RM97,000 in cash prizes was offered at the Saratok Regatta this time.
